Blackjack ABC’s – Part One

by Quinton on Mar.02, 2010, under Blackjack

The main premise of the card game is to be dealt cards adding up to twenty one. Each twenty-one player is given two cards. When a player is handed a nine or less and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the blackjack player is dealt no Ace cards it is called as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt all players at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each gambler is given the opportunity to make one of six actions:

Requesting another card (Hit): When a gambler says hit me the dealer will deal him another card, if the addition of that card makes the value of the hand to exceed twenty-one the player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card makes the total to twenty one the blackjack player wins and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they’re still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a player is happy with the hand they’ll hold. As soon as this has happened the dealer will show his/her hand and the black jack player who has gotten twenty one or the closet to twenty one will acquire a win.

Doubling Down: A gambler may ask to double down which doubles the bet they have made. As soon as you’ve taken this action you can only receive one additional card. The specifics of doubling down are normally specified by the table or casino game rules so prior to playing be certain you are comfortable with the casino game rules. If you are gambling at an on-line betting house this is normally very easy.
